Cleaning Your UTV
Your side-by-side can get pretty dirty after an afternoon blazing through muddy trails! That’s why it’s important to know how to properly clean your UTV. Fortunately for you, we’ve created the following guide for cleaning your UTV. Read on for some simple tips, and head over to Mckibben Powersports of Sebring if you want to see a great selection of UTVs for sale.
Pre-Soak the Mud and Scrape
Start by finding a place to clean your side-by-side. You can use your driveway, but make sure to get as much runoff down the drain as possible. You don’t want any of that grime and soapy water getting into your lawn!
If your UTV is particularly muddy, you’ll need to scrape the mud or soak it off before you apply any soap to clean it. Use a plastic mud scraper to pull off chunks of dirt without scratching the paint.
Pressure Wash off the Grime
Now it’s time to get rid of all of that stubborn filth! Even at full blast, a pressure washer shouldn’t damage your side by side. A hose and nozzle will work just fine too. The goal with this part of the cleaning process is to get off as much of the dirt as possible so you don’t have to scrub it off by hand.
Add Soap and Scrub
Now that your side by side is rinsed, pull out a wash mitt or sponge and apply some bike soap or automotive detergent. Scrub every surface of your UTV, including the wheels, the handlebars, and everything in between. A stiff brush can help get out all of the dirt from those small nooks and crannies and make your rig even cleaner. Degreaser can be helpful for particularly oily areas. When you’re done scrubbing, rinse down the vehicle until all of the dirt and soap run off.
Dry it Off
Now that your UTV is clean, it’s time to dry it. If there isn’t a cloud in the sky, you can let your side by side air dry. You may also choose to use a lint-free towel to dry off the UTV. If you have an air compressor, you can use it to blast the water out of every crevice. Drying your rig properly will prevent rust and save you the trouble of drying by hand.
We hope these tips help you clean your UTV after all of your mud-filled, exciting adventures!
