US 27 runs up the Ridge through Avon Park, SR 66 heads west across open pasture to Zolfo Springs, SR 70 crosses toward Okeechobee and Arcadia, and US 98 takes you past Lake Istokpoga to Lorida. Traffic thins out fast once you leave town, the crosswind off the open ground is real, and fuel stops can be further apart than riders from the coast expect. And this is Sebring. V-Strom adventure bikes
The V-Strom range is where we point most Highlands County riders first. V-Strom 800 and 800DE are the middleweights, with the DE set up for more dirt and graded road. V-Strom 1050 and 1050DE are the big twins for riders who carry a passenger and luggage.
An upright seat, a real windscreen and range between fill-ups count for more on SR 70 than a spec sheet does. These bikes are comfortable at a steady highway pace in the wind, and the DE versions will take a shell rock ranch road without complaint.
GSX-8, SV650 and GSX-S street bikes
GSX-8S is the naked parallel twin, GSX-8R puts a fairing on the same platform, and GSX-8T and GSX-8TT wrap it in retro styling. SV650 ABS is the V-twin that has been teaching people to ride well for a long time, and it is still one of the easiest bikes to live with every day.
For more power, GSX-S1000 is the naked liter bike, and GSX-S1000GT+ and GSX-S1000GX+ add wind protection and luggage for sport touring. The newer SV-7GX crossover is worth a look if you want SV650 manners with a taller, more upright stance.
Hayabusa and GSX-R sportbikes
In a town where people plan their spring around endurance racing, the sportbike side of the Suzuki catalog gets attention. Hayabusa is the long-running hyperbike, the GSX-R1000 and GSX-R1000R are the liter superbikes, and GSX-R750 and GSX-R600 are still in the lineup. GSX250R is the approachable way into the look.
A GSX-R has a riding position built around a racetrack. It is exciting on a Sunday morning and tiring on a hot afternoon at 45 mph behind a cattle trailer. If you want the look with a friendlier seat, sit on a GSX-8R before you decide.
KingQuad ATVs for ranch and grove
KingQuad 750AXi is the big single for towing and heavy racks, KingQuad 500AXi is the middle ground, and both come in power steering versions that make a real difference on a long day. KingQuad 400ASi is automatic and 400FSi uses a foot shift, both simpler machines for lighter property work.

Buy for where the miles really happen
Picture a normal week, not the dream trip. If most of your riding is Sebring to Avon Park and back, a GSX-8S or SV650 is plenty. If you ride to Okeechobee, Arcadia or the coast on weekends, a V-Strom with a windscreen and a comfortable seat will get used far more.
Check seat height and weight at a standstill
The hardest part of riding a big bike is often the parking lot, not the road. Sit on it, lift it off the side stand, and try to paddle it backward. If both feet are on tiptoe, ask us about lower seat options or look at a smaller model. Confidence at a stop is worth more than any spec.
DR-Z4S, DR650S and the dirt range
Suzuki's dual sport and dirt bikes suit riders with land to ride. DR-Z4S is the street legal dual sport, DR-Z4SM is the supermoto version on street wheels, and DR650S is the big, simple dual sport. RM-Z250 and RM-Z450 are motocross bikes for closed courses, and DR-Z50 and DR-Z125L are trail bikes for kids and smaller riders.
KingQuad: 400, 500 or 750
For fence checks and feed runs on a small property, a KingQuad 400 does the job. If you pull a sprayer or a loaded trailer through soft sand, step up to the 500AXi or 750AXi, and get power steering if you will be on it for hours. Florida limits how and where riders under 16 may operate off-highway vehicles and requires protective gear, so confirm the current rules before a young rider uses a quad.
Shopping a used Suzuki
Look at the chain, the sprockets and the tires first, because they show how the bike was kept. Ask for service records and whether the valves have been checked at the interval. Look for fork seal leaks and crash damage on the bar ends, levers and footpegs. On a used KingQuad, check the hour meter, the CV boots and the racks for signs of hard work.
